show & Contest

Thank you to everyone who came to the IPMS/USA National Convention here in Phoenix!  Though it wasn’t perfect, we think we delivered a good show, with a beautiful, spacious facility, a welcoming hotel at a good price, outstanding vendors with tons of goodies to sell, and lots of friendly people to get reacquainted with.

To give you a few numbers, we had 424 entrants in the contest.  Those entrants entered 2367 entries consisting of 2724 models.  In addition, we had 800 models on display, for a total of 3524 models for you to look at in the contest room.  And that doesn’t include the 25 Chapter/Club/SIG tables that had lots more models to look at and representatives of their organizations to talk to.

Congratulations to the San Marcos group for winning the 2020 show and best of luck to the 2019 group in Chattanooga.  We’ll see you there.

We hope you enjoyed your time in Phoenix and your visit with us.  Thank you for building, bringing, and showing your models and spending a few days with us.

May 31, 2018 - Pima Air & Space Museum - Worth the trip AGAIN!  Is it worth going to see Pima again if you were just there in 2010? You bet it is! Since then the museum has added new display hangers, and they now have five large well-lit and air-conditioned buildings housing many great aircraft and displays. Also, listed below are 43 aircraft that have been added to the collection since then. Those marked with an asterisk are visible from museum grounds. And in addition to this list, there are several other acquisitions undergoing restoration (these are not usually available for public viewing). Yeah baby, definitely worth the trip.       Steve Collins – Convention Chairman
